Painting with one colour, black and white.

In today's project we are going to paint a still life with just one colour, plus black and white.

This is how.

STEP 1

Prepare your palette:

colour

colour + black

colour + black + black

black

colour + white

colour + white + white

white

STEP 2

Trace the outline of the figures.

STEP 3

Retrace the outline with a black crayon. Erase the pencil lines.

STEP 4

Paint the objects with a pure colour (a hue).

STEP 5

Use a shade to paint dark areas and a tint to paint light areas.

STEP 6

Use darker shades for darker areas and lighter tints for lighter areas. You can also use black and white.

STEP 7

Use a dark shade to paint shadows. Use a light tint to paint the background.
